Do You Know the Rules of the Road as well as the Best Accident Lawyer?

Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators’ Findings

Recently, the CCMTA conducted a survey directed at analyzing Canadians’ perception of road behaviours. One aspect of the study asked respondents about their own and other drivers’ knowledge of the rules of the road. The survey asked, on a scale of 1-7, to what extent various groups of drivers follow the rules of the road, with 1 as ‘not at all’ and 7 as ‘to a great extent’. The findings revealed an interesting quirk in Canadians’ perception of their driving:

  • Drivers Perceived to Follow the Rules of the Road to a Great Extent, by Percentage of Canadians

    • Yourself as a driver: 68%
    • Drivers of large vehicles (trucks, tractor trailers): 36%
    • Drivers 65 and over: 28%
    • Pedestrians: 24%
    • Cyclists: 17%
    • Drivers 16 to 24: 10%

Oddly enough, while the vast majority of Canadians perceive that they themselves follow the rules of the road to a great extent, they also very rarely believe that other drivers follow these rules. Of course, those two facts are contradictory—if one holds true, the other is automatically false.

The Best Accident Lawyer Knows the Facts

Perception is important, but, in the case of an accident, reality is what matters most. Perhaps you follow the rules of the road closely, perhaps other drivers don’t; if you’ve been in a serious car accident and sustained a brain injury, neck injury, or back injury, search out the best accident lawyer you can find to sort out the facts and get the compensation you need.
