Politicians with Injuries
With the federal elections coming up, everyone has politics on their mind. To distract voters from the political debate, it is interesting to find out which politicians have had injuries that could have resulted in a need for a personal injury law firm.
Secretary of State John Kerry was spotted with injuries resulting from hockey. He had a nice shiner around his eye and reported explaining that he didn’t regret it because hockey was the best sport on earth. President Obama was also spotted with a sports related injury. His face was bruised from a basketball game, yet he didn’t make a claim at a personal injury law firm, a case he surely would’ve won. Obama was also spotted tripping as he exited Air Force One, a fate he has shared with previous politicians. President Gerald Ford tripped and fell on Air Force One during a trip to Austria, which has been well documented in embarrassing political moments.
The Shawinigan Handshake
As well as receiving injuries, politicians have also been responsible for inflicting injuries on others. Jean Chretien is infamous for throttling protester Bill Clennett after he got too close to Chretien, and the PM retaliated with force. Apparently, Chretien’s house had been burgled soon before the event, and he was quite shaken up leading to his extreme reaction to the protester. The incident was favourably named the “Shawinigan Handshake” and has been re-enacted several times. Clennett decided not to pursue the case through a personal injury law firm, though he was well within his rights to do so. Clennett is reportedly not a fan of the “Shawinigan Handshake” gags, but he tolerates them.
