Cycling in the City
When a cyclist gets into a car accident resulting in a personal injury claim, it is a very unsettling experience due to the danger of the situation. Cyclists can die in a car accident because the bicycle is so much smaller than the vehicle that is involved in the accident, yet this doesn’t stop people from cycling in the city.
Promoting Safe Cycling
Bikes are a more efficient mode of transportation and are gaining popularity as more eco-friendly ways of life become increasingly important to people. New technologies to promote safe cycling are entering the market to respond to the increased demand and may be able to help in a car accident that results in a personal injury claim.
The Airbag Helmet
One of the newest innovative cycling technologies is an airbag for cyclists created by Hovding, a Swedish company. The project to create an airbag helmet began in 2005 as a master’s thesis project by two entrepreneurs, Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, and developed into an entire business from there. The airbag is kept around the neck and deploys when contact is made with the ground. It wraps around the head and protects the cranium in the case of an accident. The airbag system is $300 and the collar comes in black and other patterns to ensure fashion as well as safety. Hovding is one of many companies that is trying to increase safety for cyclists in the case of a car accident that would result in a personal injury claim.
